The Society in 2021

This pandemic has affected the world in many different ways. Every person has been affected. Some lost their jobs, some lost their home, some lost their lives, some lost their loved ones and so many evil incidents took place. The spread got out of control people are forced not to leave thor house, for their own sake of security, but as a human nature, we can’t lock ourself in the home, as it feels same to be in a jail. People have run out of money, the flow of money stopped. People stopped paying their workers as well as they stopped getting paid. It has also taken a mental and emotional toll. A lot of people have suffered mental breakdowns and become depressed. They feel hopeless. As people try to maneuver ways to navigate their lives in this pandemic, things started to get normalized in new ways. 

We become more in contact with technology, because of this pandemic. It’s like a giant leap for the technological field. Instead of getting physical contact, we found virtual ways of communication for education as well as for different meetings and presentations, seminars are changing into webinars, increasing digital content creation as well as consumption. Now working from home is the new normal thing which was not common before. People get more effective at doing their work because work from home brings a lot of timeliness to them. Despite calling people to the office for work, now it’s become easy just to call them to work from home: No office cost, no transport and other overhead expenses. Almost every business started making their online presence, which created opportunities for digital marketers to profit. Now if there is no digital presence of any company it is like the company didn’t exist in the real world. People mostly ignore them because they didn’t give their trust to those whose presence is not online. Companies without online presence end up taking a loss. For those who didn’t know how to use technology, they were forced by the situation to use it, so they can fit in the society. The internet consumption rate has shown exponential growth and the data consumption also increases at a high rate. The more you know about technology, the higher the chances of getting a high paying job in 2021. A lot of companies are hiring technical specialists for their companies, as hacking and cyber attacks become common due to shifting towards online. 

For students, classes have moved online. They started searching resources online for their education, and their information becomes more precise. Online education becomes easy. Education has become more cost efficient, as student started learning new ideas, technology, skills, at their own pace and self-direction. For students, more amount of audio and video content is getting uploaded to the internet by their education institutes. With all the pros to remote learning, there are also a lot of cons. Such as students finding reasons to procrastinate, miss their classes, or sleep during their classes as there is no one to watch them, and the reason for this is they know they will get the content later on, and they will watch when they will be in the mood. This results in students getting bad grades, and can have overall negative impacts on the student. The key to remote learning success is autonomy, accountability, and self-discipline.

The giant leap from shifting offline to online brings a lot of problems as well as opportunities, from a small store to big companies all of them started providing their services online as well as home delivery of their product or service. They all start getting normalized in a new way, big companies started the trend if it’s not needed you must not come to the office for the work, because operating office cost is more. Indirectly they are saving their money and getting their worked done. Operating an online business is always easier than bringing people to do work for you from multiple perspectives such as cost effectiveness, stretch over people, management, etc. Also, this might not suit everyone. Some don't have a productive working environment in their home. Some might not be as effective as they were in the office. Some workers might have more distractions at home, for example, some have children who are not letting them work. There are many more reasons that companies can maximize efficiency going forward in the new normal by blending home and office environments in employee choice.  

There is also a high demand for the front line workers because people don’t like to meet in person due to the risk of getting covid. Instead, they use technology for communication. If there are any things or services or product to be provided, that is done by the delivery man to offset the high risk of getting Covid. Because of this reason, delivery workers' wages have increased. Also in the hospital service, the front liners have a higher risk of getting infected as they meet patient to patient in contact, so they are in high demand and also paid comparatively higher wages than prior pandemic. Wearing a mask as well as PPE can reduce the risk of infection, but they aren't 100% effective. Most people are afraid of exposure, and not fearful about their loved ones being the front liners. It has been a hard time for everyone. Those are able to persevere this difficult time can gain high potential, economically as well as mentally. However, for many people struggling, they face hardships and are seeing the worst times of their life. Wealthy and kind-hearted people also have donated lots of money and food to the needy people. Now as everything starts getting back to normal and people start getting their jobs back, new employment opportunities are been created. People become more aware and conscious about their health, which unknowingly helps them to fight a lot of communicable diseases, a lot of new safety measures have been introduced, and work form home has become easy to get. People have increased awareness of new technologies and how they are positively impacting their lives, and making life easier and more comfortable.
