Multiple leaks and rumors confirming the iPhone to finally launch at least one model without any physical port for the first time, with tons of new tweaks to gaze within.
Various trusted sources provided extensive renderings and possibilities for the oncoming Apple iPhone 13 series including a portless design, hardware, and sensor improvements, as well as some cutting-edge build quality improvements that are completely new in the smartphone world as of now.
The iPhone 13 lineup goes all the way towards the best technologies, some even unheard of in the smartphone world. The portless design will come in favor of the MagSafe feature Apple has been working on to completely remove the need for a charging port. Headphone ports were long gone, another initiative from Apple itself that various other brands mocked yet utilized themselves later on. The tradition might be repeated as Apple took some major decisions that may be hard to digest but is likely to shape the next generation of the tech world as we know.
Sources confirm the next iPhone will have 4 models, the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, the Pro, and the Pro Max models. But, there’s a chance Apple might bring up the “S” series again, with the rumored iPhone 12S in terms of renaming. Although, there was no 11S model so fingers crossed. The expected launch date falls on September 24 or before. The previous year's launch was hindered due to the Covid-19 situation, but this year things should run on point.

As for the hardware, Apple took some major changes and improvements, going even further with some of its patented research works to be implemented. The display will be a 120Hz panel for both Pro models. The LTPO (Low-temperature polycrystalline) display will feature always on the screen. It’s developed by Apple for the OLED screens with lower than traditional temperature requirements for forming. LTPO was used on the Apple watches where the always-on display feature was already present.
MagSafe was another feature that shaped the previous iPhones by doubling the charging output from traditional wireless charging techniques. It featured an automatic snapping of the charger to the phone regardless of how the phone is placed on the plate. This year, the stronger MagSafe magnet will not offer reverse wireless charging as far as known. Apple has compensated it with a Qualcomm X50 5G modem that offers much-improved battery life and a higher download speed of up to 5 gigabits per second. The X50 is rumored to come with the 13 lineup but chances are it may be delayed till 2022.

The body is rumored to contain a smaller notch in height, due to the refined sensors, two of the previous sensors are combined for lower space consumption. However, the body will be slightly thicker than before, by approximately 0.26 mm for containing a bigger battery.
Apple has gone an extra step for the look and feel of the body. The iPhone 13 lineup is rumored to feature a matte titanium casing, working on and patented by Apple for a while. The soft matte back will provide a more gripper feeling.

There are some major improvements expected in-camera sector. The much-awaited portrait video mode will finally be on the new iPhones, which offers real-time portrait video recording and changeable depth of field in the post-processing. This has been possible for the strong A15 processor. The ultrawide sensor gets an edge over the previous one in terms of quality and low light image shooting. It now has a 1.8 aperture for all the new models rather than the 2.4 ones from the past. The Pro and Pro Max model will get the same telephoto lenses with a 2.2 aperture and a focal length of 65 mm. Good news for people who fancy taking night sky pictures, as the astrophotography is improved to take clearer shots of the sky and the moon. The whole package is covered by a set of 6-piece lenses, an upgrade from the previous 5-piece lens layout.

The periscope lens gets another edge with Apple’s innovation of light folding technology, another patent work. LiDAR sensors will be provided for the 13 and 13 mini to measure distances and clearances. Sony will provide a larger CMOS sensor. However, it’s rumored that there will be no telescope zoom feature. Despite the clear edge, the camera layout will be the same as the iPhone 12 models.
AirTags are finally coming with the iPhone 13 phones. These are Bluetooth tracker devices used to track and attach wallets and keys, which lets the user track them from the Find My app if lost. AirTags might also have slightly significant reverse wireless charging ability which is yet to see.

As for the security system, Apple will implement an onscreen fingerprint scanner (optical) as the Touch ID, as well as the incredibly efficient Face ID which gained popularity for the first time after the previous launch. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max both will supposedly receive a 1 terabyte storage.

Other major improvements include a dedicated vapor cooling chamber in the 13. This will be implemented to reduce and handle overheating, which was a complaint about previous iPhone models that caused thermal throttling after using longer periods of gaming.
The vapor chamber shifts the vapor inside to different locations as convection where the higher temperature is formed and is likely to improve the thermal situation of the new iPhone models to have a considerable upgrade.
The cost for these premium lineups? It’s expected that despite all the innovations and major improvements going into these devices, the cost should stay relatively the same as the previous models. The iPhone 12 Mini didn’t hit the market very hard, despite having more reasonable pricing. Some suggested that Apple may ditch the Mini series altogether, but stronger chances suggest the opposite. Although, the Mini lineup may see a lower production rate than before.
Overall, the Apple iPhone 13 series phones may reshape the future of the direction of next-gen smartphones, in line with the oncoming Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup. Time to see what the newer iOS and Android devices have to offer.
