Support for Flood Victims

North Central West Virginia recently experienced severe flooding that caused widespread devastation across our communities. Families and businesses in Lewis and Upshur Counties are facing significant damage to their homes and vital local infrastructure. In response to this disaster, organizations across the state have come together to establish a central distribution center for flood relief efforts. This unified approach aims to ensure everyone gets the help they need as quickly as possible.

Support for Flood Victims

If you have been impacted by the floods, the Flood Relief Distribution Center at the Market Place Mall in Weston is your central hub for assistance. Upshur County will also transition their relief supplies to this Weston location on Monday, August 3, 2026. The HOPE trailer, provided by Hope Gas and Miller Pipeline, serves as the main intake point for all assistance requests. You can seek help in person at the mall or call 304-454-5053 to speak with someone directly.

You can also request assistance online using specific county forms. Lewis County residents can request help at http://tinyurl.com/LewisFloodHelp while Upshur County residents should use https://forms.gle/cPQu69p5169nCupc6 to submit their needs. If you have been displaced and need housing, please fill out the housing survey at http://tinyurl.com/LewisFloodHousingSurvey for Lewis County. All residents across West Virginia should complete the statewide damage survey at https://tinyurl.com/FloodDamageSurvey2026 to report property damage. You can always contact the Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS for immediate emergency assistance.

The distribution center offers much more than just physical supplies. While picking up necessities, you can connect with Community Care Crisis Counselors, the Department of Human Services, Health Right professionals, and local clergy. There is also free WiFi provided by WalMart Disaster Relief, hot food from Operation BBQ Relief, and even therapy dogs to offer comfort during this stressful time. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Sundays through August 7th.

Guidance for Generous Donors

People from across the state and beyond have already stepped up in a big way. The center has received over 290 pallets of supplies from ten different states to support our local families. If you are looking to donate, the center currently has specific needs to help with the cleanup process. The most requested items right now include yard rakes, box fans, dehumidifiers, Damp Rid, extension cords, fly traps, and ant traps.

Please be aware that the center is fully stocked on certain items and cannot accept others due to storage and safety limits. They have plenty of bottled water, bleach, Pine Sol, hand sanitizer, individual canned food, toilet paper, and paper towels. The facility is strictly not accepting clothing, perishable food, used items, or medications of any kind. Focusing your generosity on the highly requested cleanup supplies will ensure your donation makes the biggest possible impact.

Opportunities for Volunteers

Recovery is a massive community effort and volunteers are desperately needed to help sort supplies and assist affected families. When you sign up to help, the referral management team will match you directly with local families who have submitted requests for assistance. Your time and energy will directly support your neighbors in their time of greatest need.

Coordination for Nonprofits

Charitable organizations and nonprofits are vital partners in this recovery operation. The Market Place Mall location serves as the main referral management hub to process incoming requests and distribute them to capable organizations. If your group is looking to assist, coordinating directly with the hub ensures efforts are not duplicated and every family receives the attention they require.

This is an incredibly difficult season for our mountain state, but please know no one has to face it alone. The road to rebuilding may seem overwhelming right now. However, West Virginians are deeply resilient and always look out for our neighbors. Our hearts are with everyone navigating this devastation.
